1969 Born in Liaoning, China
1991 Graduated from Luxun Academy of Fine Arts, China

Jonson’s work celebrates the possibilities of colour. His mark-making has an unflinching confidence that can only be seen in painters with many years of experience. Through the combination of deep shades of black, grey and brown with thick strokes of white paint, Jonson creates work that conveys a dramatic elegance. Jonson has recently turned his attention to animals portraiture; though, he is perhaps best known for his strikingly bold abstract work.
His paintings showcased an expansive display of strong blocks of colours and vibrant hues. Bringing together elements of both Western and Oriental arts, the artist’s expression is moulded into a personal style with of consistency in quality and freshness of impression. As a researcher at the Chinese Art Research Institute as well as a member of Shenzhen Art Society, he has elected as the deputy principal of the Oil Painting Association in 2014. His works have won numerous awards and have been collected by institutions, corporate organisations as well as private collectors.
